Sofia Bulgaria it is - the least expensive tourism city in the world.
Hanoi ranks second on a worldwide list of 2013’s cheapest cities for tourism.
The result comes from a recent survey conducted by the website in 49
cities of 49 countries around the country that attract the largest
number of foreign tourists.
The ranking is based on the total average cost of one night’s
accommodation for two people at a four-star hotel, dinner and return
taxi fares over a 3.2 kilometre route.
The Polish capital of Warsaw is the world’s third cheapest city,
followed by Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt and Budapest, Hungary. Thailand’s
capital city of Bangkok (sixth position) is one of Vietnam’s largest
regional rivals in attracting tourists.
Meanwhile, Oslo, Norway has topped the list of the most expensive
tourism destinations in the world, followed by Zurich, Switzerland.

Penang embarks on Earth Hour 2014
A 3.5-km night walk along the city’s Heritage Trail and the “I Will
If You Will” pledge to plant 60 trees of four endangered species are the
two highlights of Earth Hour 2014 in Penang.
The event, mooted and organized by WWF-Malaysia, is supported by the Penang State Government, through the Office of the Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation.
“This is the first time we are collaborating with the Penang State Government to engage thousands of people in Penang to participate in Earth Hour,” said the Conservation Director of WWF-Malaysia, Dr Sundari Ramakrishna.
Earth Hour is a global environmental initiative that began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2000 businesses switched off their lights for one hour from 8.30pm, to take a stand against climate change. In 2014, Earth Hour will take place on 29 March.
“We are pleased that Penang has decided to adopt this major initiative to drive greater awareness of green living among Penangites and tourists in the city on that day and beyond,” said Dr Ramakrishna. “The recent announcement on hike in electricity tariffs next year provides us with even more push to start living green seriously,” she added.
While individuals and businesses are encouraged to switch off non-essential lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm as a symbolic gesture to mark Earth Hour, those who are more adventurous are invited to take part in the 3.5-km night walk along the Heritage Trail in Georgetown.
“The starting point is Jalan Padang Kota Lama, through Lebuh Light, Lebuh Farquhar, Lebuh Leith, Lebuh Chulia and Lebuh Pantai, before joining back again to Lebuh Light and ending at Jalan Padang Kota Lama,” said the Penang State Executive Councillor of Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation, YB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow.
The State Executive Councillor has pledged to walk with the people if 1000 or more participants register for the walk. The registration fee of RM60 per person, to be paid via an online payment gateway, will entitle each participant to a “Earth Hour 60+” t-shirt and sticker, and an e-certificate of participation. The Penang Amateur Athletic Association (PAAA) serves as the technical advisor of the walk.
“As part of the Cleaner Greener Penang initiative, Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) will plant 60 trees of four types of endangered species, namely Anisoptera scaphula, Cratoxylum cochinchinense, Firmiana malayana and Fagrea auriculata at the Queensbay Interchange if 60 commercial buildings in Penang support Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on 29 March,” said Tuan Chow.
In addition to the Penang State Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation, PAAA and MPPP, Earth Hour 2014 in Penang is also well-supported by The Rice Miller Hotel & Godowns, Western Digital Foundation and HGST, a Western Digital Company, Lions Club of Georgetown City, Lions Club of Georgetown Island and Lions Club of Penang Outreach, and YES Media LED Advertising Screen and Impress LED Advertise.
“WWF-Malaysia applauds these organizations for their interest in working together with us to expand and extend the concept of Green Living in Malaysia, leveraging on Earth Hour 2014 as the launching pad of the journey,” Dr Ramakrishna said.
Besides Penang, WWF-Malaysia is also working with other cities and towns in Malaysia to drive nationwide awareness and momentum on Green Living via the Earth Hour platform.

A nine-foot carcass, believed to be of a sea creature, was found at D’Cove Pasir Panjang Family Park yesterday.
A worker with Pelita Holding Sdn Bhd Mohd Hamzah Man made the discovery during a round of cleanliness inspection at the recreational area at 7am.
He said he saw a huge object that looked like a heap of rubbish washed ashore at the beach that emitted a foul smell.
“On closer look, I saw it was a carcass of a sea animal.
“This is the first time we have come across a carcass this size in this area.
“Inspection rounds at the beach area is our weekly routine on every Saturday morning to make sure it is clean,” he told reporters.

After the discovery, Mohd Hamzah made a phone call to the patrol police and Bomba for further action.
The carcass could be that of a baby whale or a dugong, but the relevant authorities will be there tomorrow (Monday) to conduct tests on the carcass to determine its actual species.
In the meantime, the carcass was buried at the beach for sanitary purposes and to cover the foul smell of putrefaction.

pendapat

SEA Games: Team Singapore performed well: Chef-de-Mission
Team Singapore's Chef-de-mission Annabel

events compared to the previous edition. Team Singapore's Chef-de-mission Annabel Pennefather said Singapore
have performed well at the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games despite sending a
smaller contingent that took part in fewer events compared to the
previous edition.
The Singapore contingent of 309 athletes
competed in 25 out of the 30 sports in the 2013 SEA Games and returned
home with a total of 108 medals - 34 gold, 29 silver and 45 bronze. In 2011 at the Indonesia SEA Games, Singapore sent 623 athletes who competed in 34 out of the 48 sports, winning a total of 160 medals in total - 42 gold, 45 silver and 73 bronze.
Swimming, sailing and table tennis which have traditionally been Singapore's strong suit delivered once again.
Singapore amassed 11 gold in swimming to earn the tag of the top swimming nation at the Games with 18-year-old Joseph Schooling contributing five to the golden haul.
Water Polo too did not disappoint with their 25th straight gold in the competition.
The sailors also surpassed their target after getting five gold medals while the paddlers swept all four gold medals on offer in table tennis.
However, Pennefather acknowledged the competition is getting keener.
"We have seen strong challenges from the countries within the region even in swimming and water polo events that we have dominated but I am sure that the relevant NSAs (National Sports Associations) and athletes would be taking this into review, with the view to becoming stronger and much more competitive in 2015," she said.
On the bright side, there were many surprise winners and historic firsts such as Mok Yin Reng winning Singapore's first ever gold medal in marathon. Saiyidah Aisyah and Chan Jing Ru also ended Singapore's gold medal drought in rowing and archery respectively.
A few such as cyclist Dinah Chan and equestrian rider Janine Khoo overcame injuries to savour victory.
In athletics, while the young charges, sprinter Shanti Pereira and hurdler Dipna Lim Prasad may not have won the coveted gold medals, they broke national records and attained personal bests.
"It's a very pleasing outcome, something that we can take away as a positive to build on for future meets and of course especially the 2015 SEA Games," said Pennefather.
More than half of this year's contingent were young debutants and they contributed to about half of the total medal haul.

Gambar-Gambar ‘Berdarah Hidung’ @ Seksi Tak Ingat Sharifah Sakinah!

Adakah benar mereka sedang bercinta?

Hole in Nagore Road covered but framed art stays
The hole in Nagore Road – which became the subject matter for
Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic’s “framed artwork” – has been
covered up, but the frame is staying in place.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, in a press conference yesterday, said a cover had been placed over the hole to prevent accidents while the frame had been left untouched.
The artwork is embedded on the road where a fire hydrant once stood.
When the hydrant was removed about 10 years ago, it left a depression in the road.
Lim said the square hole did not come under MPPP’s jurisdiction but under Indah Water Konsortium.
In a news report yesterday, Lim had said the state government viewed the work in a positive light and would not demolish or whitewash any artwork even if the work was satirical and poured scorn on the state government.

Mohd Jironi wins gold in 800m final (updated)
Mohd Jironi Riduan buried the ghost of Palembang to win an unexpected
gold in the men’s 800m at the Wunna Theikdi Main Stadium here on
Tuesday.
The Miri-born athlete was disqualified in Palembang two years ago for obstructing an athlete during the 1,500m final.
He did not even qualify on merit for the 800m event for the Myanmar SEA Games and furthermore it is not even his preferred event.
But he managed to overtake defending champion Van Thai Duong of Vietnam in the last 20 metres to win in 1:50.98.
Mervin Guatre of the Philippines clocked 1:51.51 to bag the silver while Thai Duong settled for the bronze in 1:51.62.
The last Malaysian to win the 800m gold medal at the SEA Games was R. Nandakumar in 1997 in Jakarta.
It was Jironi’s first gold medal in four editions of the Games. He made his debut in Korat in 2007 where he won the bronze in the 1,500m event.
In Laos in 2009, he won silvers in the 800m and 1,500m but finished empty-handed in Palembang.
The 27-year-old Jironi, who has a personal best of 1:50.21 in the 800m, said that being disqualified in Palembang was a bitter experience.
“Furthermore, I have been struggling the whole year to qualify for the SEA Games and never thought of winning the 800m event, which is not even my pet event.
“But I won it because I ran a tactical race. I just stayed close to the pacer (Thai Duong) before making a dash in the last 200 metres to win the gold,” said Jironi, who is a school teacher cum coach at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) in Johor.
Jironi said that he would go all out to win the 1,500m scheduled for tomorrow.
“I am all fired up to deliver the second gold for Malaysia after winning my first gold in Naypyitaw,” said Jironi, who has a personal best of 3:47.34.
Another Malaysian M. Kesavan, who made his debut in the Games, clocked a personal best of 1:52.25 to finish fifth in the 800m.
However, the 20-year-old Kesavan of Perak was not satisfied despite improving on his previous best of 1:52.45.
“My mission was to improve my time by more than one second,” said Kesavan.
Meanwhile, Noor Amira Mohd Nafiah withdrew from the women’s triple jump event after she aggravated a heel injury during the warm-up.
Maria Londo of Indonesia created a new SEA Games record on 14.17m and won the gold in the women’s triple jump, erasing the old mark of 14.08m set by Thailand’s Thitima Muangjan in Laos in 2009.
Thitima registered 14.16m to bag the silver while Vietnam’s Hue Hao Tran bagged the bronze with a leap of 14.12m.
The second SEA Games record of the day was set by Thailand’s Peerachet Jantra in the men’s javelin with a throw of 76.30m.
The 20-year-old Thai shattered a 26-year-old record of 75.38m set by Frans Mahuse of Indonesia in the 1987 Jakarta SEA Games.
After three days of competition, Malaysia’s athletics haul stands at 2-2-1.

Life from Earth hitched ride to moons of Jupiter, Saturn?
Life from Earth may have been carried to moons of Jupiter and Saturn on rocks that blasted off our planet, scientists say.
The notion that life might travel on rocks knocked off a world's surface is known as lithopanspermia.
Researchers say if these meteoroids encase hardy enough organisms, they could seed life on another planet or moon.
Although lithopanspermia might seem far-fetched, a number of meteorite discoveries suggest it might at least be possible, 'Astrobiology Magazine' reported.
Rachel Worth, an astrophysicist at Pennsylvania State University and study lead author and her colleagues analysed where batches of several thousand rocks travelled once ejected off both Earth and Mars.
"We ended up simulating over 100,000 individual fragments," Worth said.
While most of these meteoroids slammed back into their home planet, a great many rocks also were either swallowed by the Sun or left the solar system entirely.
Researchers calculated that over the course of 3.5 billion years, about 200 million meteoroids large enough to potentially shield life from the rigours of space were blasted off Earth.
Roughly 800 million such rocks were ejected off Mars during the same period.
Scientists calculated about 83,000 meteoroids from Earth and 320,000 from Mars could have struck Jupiter after travelling 10 million years or less.
Also, roughly 14,000 from Earth should have hit Saturn in that time, and no more than 20,000 from Mars.
Since the moons of those giant worlds are relatively close to their planets, many of them might get peppered by these meteoroids as well.
Researchers calculated that Saturn's moons Titan and Enceladus and Jupiter's moons Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto should each have received between one and 10 impacts both from Earth and from Mars.
These findings suggest the possibility of transfer of life from the inner solar system to the outer moons, although very rare, currently cannot be ruled out.
However, researchers cautioned they are not saying "that life has made it to any of these moons, just that it could.

New Kamen Rider Gaim Toy Catalog [Complete]
After all those blurred images and incomplete scans, finally, here's a complete scan of the new Kamen Rider Gaim toy catalog featuring the Kachidoki Lock Seed and the DJ Gun. The pages also gives a much better look at the silhouette of Gaim's new arms changes or upgrades.
Having the complete page scan, we got to see something new in here. First off is the combination of the DJ Gun and Musou Saber into a bigger sword.
The last, but not the least, is the schedule published at the final page of the catalog. Listed under December is Kamen Rider Gaim along with his Musou Saber and Sengoku Driver. Under January, it's most likely the debut of the Energy Riders, with Shin Zangetsu and the Genesis Driver and Sonic Arrow under it. February is a silhouette of Gaim with the Sonic Arrow and the Sengoku + Genesis Driver. Lastly, March shows another silhouette of Gaim with the Kachidoki Lock Seed and DJ Gun.
More information regarding this arm changes or upgrades will become available at a later date.

top 5 mobile armor in gundam series
no.5
The massive, oblong body was supported by two legs and dwarfed mobile suits in size, as it stood 60 meters in height and weighed close to 2000 tons when fully loaded. Its forward-mounted mega particle gun could destroy several battleships with a single shot, and the body also housed twenty eight smaller particle guns that could lay down 360 degrees of fire. For additional protection, should a mobile weapon get inside the range of the twenty-eight particle guns, the claws on the Big Zam's feet are actually air-to-air missiles that can easily crush any of the Earth Federation's mobile weapons.
Because of its size and poor maneuverability, it had an I-Field installed on its underbelly to protect it from beam weapons, and it relied on its bulk to survive projectile attacks. All of this equipment required four large power plants to operate, and as a result Big Zam overheated quickly and could not be used for more than 20 minutes in battle.
4 .NZ-333 α Azieru
The α Azieru is an experimental mobile armor developed by the Neo Zeon Newtype Research Labs, and for its time it was one of the largest and most powerful mobile weapons ever developed. It is the direct descendant of the AMA-002 Neue Ziel fielded during the Delaz conflict and can be said to be the culmination of Zeon's Newtype-use technologies. Because of its large size, the α Azieru cannot be stored in regular vessels and must be towed during transportation. The cockpit is located in the head and features a control interface similar to that of the MSN-04 Sazabi and MSN-03 Jagd Doga. Its strongest weapon is the mega particle gun which can destroy several mobile suits with one blow. Because it was developed as a Newtype weapon, the α Azieru features 9 funnels which are able to attack over great distances. For close combat it is equipped with two wire-guided psycommu mega arms, each equipped with 5 beam guns, and 2 vulcan guns mounted in the head.
3.GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam
2. XMA-02 Ebirhu Doga
After the chaos of the Second Neo Zeon War, the Earth sphere was littered with much debris from Axis and the countless mobile suits destroyed in the final battle. The Buch Concern stepped in and accepted a contract to clean up the debris, but the Earth Federation was unaware that the group's leadership had its own plans for the future. Recovering the remains of the NZ-333 Alpha Azieru, the Buch Concern successfully reverse-engineered its psycommu technology, which was combined with the data from the Den'an-type mobile suits to produce the XMA-02 Ebirhu Doga. Bearing a similar design philosophy to the XMA-01 Rafflesia, the Ebirhu Doga was intended to execute the Crossbone Vanguard's plan to create Cosmo Babylonia. To this end, the Ebirhu Doga was equipped with a supply of Bugs, the remote-controlled killing machines that devastated Frontier Side's population. Its main weaponry consisted of a large mega particle cannon and funnels, controlled using a psycommu system based on the an Azieru's data.
1. AMA-X7 Shamblo
The AMA-X7 Shamblo is an amphibious mobile armor developed by Zeon remnants with the technical support of the supporters of Neo Zeon. The machine combined use of three different propulsion systems (jet propulsion electromagnetic induction or MHD, and Minovsky thermonuclear jet hover craft) to ensure low noise and high mobility, both in water and on land. The Minovsky type generator(s) on its leg(s), hence by using the combination of submersible/hover system, it can achieve low noise condition and high mobility while in its underwater cruising mode. On ground, it can use together its Minovsky type generator and hover jet propulsion to demonstrate surprising agility that do not match its look. Shamblo can use the defensive properties created by its 10 reflective bits and scattering mega particle gun, which can render both solid ammo and beam attacks ineffective. Due to its stealth, the Federation Navy called it the "Sea Ghost" or "Phantom of the Sea." It can be clearly seen that, when Zeon throw in the high propulsion, high firepower mobile weapon into the battlefield, their battle strategy is to use them to create a breakthrough in the front-line battle.
MA-08 Big Zam
The MA-08 Big Zam is a mobile armor in which the designers had completely disregarded the concept of high speed and mobility, which had been the key factor to the success of their mobile suits and other mobile armors, and focused completely on the Big Zam's offensive and defensive capabilities. Approaching the size of a battleship, the MA-08 Big Zam features none of the living quarters or storage areas found on ships designed to operate independently for long periods of time. Instead all of its internal components; including its engine, multiple fusion reactors, armor, I-Field generator, and cockpit; are focused on improving the Big Zam's combat abilities making it a much more efficient and destructive weapon.
3.GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam
Mobile Armor Mode
The massive backpack carried by the Destroy mounts four thrusters, allowing the suit to hover over the ground at low altitudes in Mobile Armor mode. Besides this, the backpack mounts three of the weapons used by the suit. The first and perhaps the most powerful among its weapons are the two "Aufprall Dreizehn" high-energy beam cannons which are capable of literally cutting through a city, or to obliterate enemy units- causing instant massive destruction against enemy defensive positions. Also mounted on the backpack are "Nefertem 503" thermal plasma composite cannons, which are fired from 20 beam cannons mounted around the side circumference of its backpack, thus providing strong firepower in every direction regardless of environment. Lastly, the backpack mounts four Mark 62 6-tube multipurpose missile launchers (two launchers mounted in the front, two in the opposite direction), capable of firing a large number of missiles at enemies.2. XMA-02 Ebirhu Doga
After the chaos of the Second Neo Zeon War, the Earth sphere was littered with much debris from Axis and the countless mobile suits destroyed in the final battle. Blues Gang To Release New Album In January 2014
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- After 15 years of silence, Malaysia's
ever popular blues rock band, Blues Gang, is set to release a new album
in January next year.
The album will feature six songs, four of which are new singles, which are expected to please the band's longtime fans.
Its lead vocalist, Ito Mohd, when met at the National Press Club Malaysia's (NPC) charity dinner yesterday, described the album as so special as it also marked the band's fourth decade of being in the entertainment industry.
The last time they released an album was in 1998, titled 'Ribut Pendamai'.
"We are touched because it's been a while since we released our last album, so the time is just right. The 15th album is hoped to please our fans who have been supporting us all this year," Ito said after performing at the event earlier.
Other members of the band are Sheikh Karim (vocalist and drummer), Tok Ghani (keyboard), Jim Nadasamy (bass guitar), Julian Mokhtar (lead guitar) and Zizi Blues (guitar).
At the event, Blues Gang took the diners down the memory lane for a rocking good time with 19 songs, including a new single, titled 'Maafkanlah'.
Their evergreen hits include 'Oh Mama, Saya Mahu Kahwin, 'Apo Nak Di Kato' and 'Mak Siti'.
Ito said they also hoped that the new album would pave the way for them to hold a concert at the prestigious Istana Budaya or going on a nationwide road tour next year.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Karim said, all this while, the band was also active in singing in clubs.
"During our joint concert with Sweet Charity in 2011, we found that many young people were in the crowd. When asked, they said they grew up listening to our songs because their parents were hardcore fans of Blues Gang," he added proudly.

Time to bring Madiba’s values to Canada
National, international and intimate respects have now been paid to
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. As his body now lays to rest in his childhood
village of Qunu in the rural Eastern Cape, South Africa, I turn inward.
Back home for a few short hours before I depart again for a new UNESCO mission in Haiti, I am pondering Mr. Mandela’s true legacy, especially what it means for me and for Canadians, for all of us who care about justice, a better country, a saner world.
What can we learn from his life? How can we embody the values, just some of the greatness shown and lived by the man who spearheaded the struggle against the ominous crimes of apartheid? What legacy will we keep here in Canada?
It is striking that so many leaders of the world decided to join with political opponents, with people from vastly different horizons, as they journeyed to pay their last homage to Mr. Mandela.
U.S. President Barack Obama chose to travel with George W. Bush, before he shook hands with Cuba’s Raul Castro. Prime Minister Stephen Harper brought an unusual delegation on board the Royal Canadian Air Force Airbus – former prime ministers Brian Mulroney, Jean Chrétien and Kim Campbell, Opposition Leader Thomas Mulcair, Liberal MP Irwin Cotler, Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo, along with provincial and territorial premiers and two former governors-general, Adrienne Clarkson and myself.
I can tell you that the conversations aboard the plane were unique. I see it as highly symbolic that the gathering encapsulated the open, human values of the man we came to mourn, and whose life and achievements we came to celebrate.
This truly was a global wake, with widely relevant lessons.
The sentiments and the people brought together by Mr. Mandela’s passing speak perhaps most eloquently about the man’s most fundamental humanistic and ethical values.
A world of justice can be built only if we act justly with our opponents. A true community can come about only if we learn to work together, even when confronted by adversarial attitudes.
Just as Mr. Mandela’s singular personal power was able to transcend divisions, to unite people across barriers, this African leader taught us all that greatness of soul and unshakable personal ethics pave the way to true and lasting change.
While I prepared to board the plane back to Canada, I could not hold back the tears. Everywhere I laid my eyes, I saw the heavy hearts, the pensive glances, the resigned smiles. In stark contrast to the first flight, the return trip to Canada remained eerily silent for a few hours. As if we all needed to absorb what we had just experienced. As if all of this needed to land back home somehow.
As a student, with millions of others, I put my shoulder to the wheel of moving South Africa beyond the ugly confines of apartheid. Leafleting supermarkets, asking customers and store managers to support the boycott of South African goods.
And one day, the clamour from the streets joined the voices from our government, as Mr. Mulroney stood in defiance of partners in the United States and Britain who were resisting the call to abolish apartheid.
In his eulogy and praise for Mr. Mandela in Johannesburg, Mr. Obama said: “We, too, must act on behalf of justice. We, too, must act on behalf of peace. There are too many of us who happily embrace Madiba’s legacy of racial reconciliation, but passionately resist even modest reforms that would challenge chronic poverty and growing inequality.”
Now is the the time for Canadians to look across this land, where chronic poverty, derelict housing, suffering children and avoidable deaths and diseases still prevail – perhaps only a street, a neighbourhood or a reserve away.
Mr. Mandela showed keen interest in the plight of Canada’s aboriginal and first peoples. He established the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a model that Canada has since followed to help Canadians find the strength and the courage to bring truth and justice to our relations, and decide how to live together.
Our aboriginal brothers and sisters await a vast movement of all toward justice. Now is the time to land Mr. Mandela’s legacy back home, to move boldly and push with all our might toward justice.
